Effective Altruism Wiki

From EA Wiki

Starting the EAWiki - Conventions and Structure

1. We should establish some style conventions for the wiki so that pages have a consistent tone and style. Do people have any suggestions?

2. The wiki will build best when there is clear structure in place so that people can fill in gaps easily. If we don't establish a structure early on then pages may get tagged on in an impractical way. Do people have any suggestions for what the overall structure of this wiki should be?

Hey Callum, good questions:

1. I'd suggest adopting Wikipedia style, avoiding excessive informality.

2. I suspect the key thing is to encourage lots of contributions - people can then tidy up the structure afterwards. Given we're most likely to get too few contributions, I don't think we need to worry about setting a structure too much. However it'd be good if someone created a skeleton structure of pages linking to other pages (including with links to pages that need adding, like we currently have). They coud then make the home page link to these high-level pages, which then direct to more specific articles.
